Egypt’s ICT Minister Showcases Investment Opportunities in Electronics at GSA U.S. Executive Forum

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, participated in the Global Semiconductor Alliance’s (GSA) U.S. Executive Forum, held in California. The high-profile forum, GSA’s flagship annual event, brings together industry leaders, executives, and experts to discuss global trends and explore opportunities for collaboration in the semiconductor sector.
Talaat’s participation underscores Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its presence at major international semiconductor gatherings, following its successful hosting of the GSA 2025 Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Executive Summit and the GSA 2023 Egypt Summit.
During the opening session, moderated by GSA Co-Founder and CEO Jodi Shelton, Talaat joined global experts and semiconductor leaders to discuss the industry’s growth trajectory and future outlook.
GSA, which represents more than 300 industry institutions worldwide and over 80% of the global semiconductor market, serves as a key platform for advancing international cooperation in the field.
On the sidelines of the forum, Talaat held a series of meetings with executives from leading semiconductor and microelectronics companies to promote Egypt’s investment potential and reinforce its role as a hub for electronics design and manufacturing. Discussions emphasized Egypt’s competitive advantages, including a large pool of highly skilled engineers, a strategic geographic location, and advanced digital infrastructure.
The meetings also highlighted national initiatives such as Egypt Makes Electronics (EME) and the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry, which provide incentives for investors and support research, development, and innovation in electronics design and manufacturing.
Among his engagements, Talaat met with:
Walden Wally Rhines, CEO of Silvaco, to discuss expansion in Egypt through Mixel in semiconductor design, EDA, and TCAD tools.
Bill Brennan, President and CEO of Credo, reviewing the company’s activities in integrated circuit (IC) design.
Gopi Sirineni, Founder, President, and CEO of Axiado, exploring AI-powered platform security solutions and expansion prospects in Egypt.
Mohit Gupta, EVP and General Manager of Alphawave Semi, examining high-speed connectivity projects in data centers and AI sectors.
Ravi Subramanian, SVP at Synopsys, and Mohamed Mohsen, Co-Founder and CEO of Si-Vision, discussing Synopsys’s expansion in Egypt through collaboration with local talent.
Ford Tamer, CEO and Director at Lattice Semiconductor, focusing on the company’s innovative software tools for electronic design.
Talaat was accompanied by a senior delegation including Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA); Sherine El-Guindy, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation; Samah Aziz, Head of MCIT’s Central Department of International Relations; and Yasser AbdelBary, Director of the Electronics Industry Program at ITIDA.
Through these engagements, Egypt reaffirmed its strategic vision to position itself as a global hub for electronics innovation, while creating new pathways for investment and partnership in the fast-evolving semiconductor industry.
