Egypt’s Digital Economy Division Opens Applications for Startups to Join Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon

The Digital Economy and Technology Division of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, in collaboration with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), has announced the opening of applications for Egyptian startups to participate in Web Summit Lisbon 2025, scheduled to take place in Portugal from November 10–13.

The initiative underscores Egypt’s commitment to supporting technology-driven startups and strengthening their presence in global technology and innovation events. By joining one of the world’s largest gatherings of entrepreneurs, investors, and decision-makers, participating startups will gain exposure to new markets, potential funding opportunities, and international partnerships.

The Division outlined key eligibility criteria for applicants seeking to join the Egyptian Pavilion at Web Summit. Startups must have:

A final product ready for local and international markets.

Valid commercial registration and tax card.

An active website showcasing their business.

A qualified and professional team.

Less than five years since incorporation.

Preference will be given to startups that have previously secured investments, are fully independent (not subsidiaries), and are not operating solely in consultancy or agency services.

Highlighting the importance of this participation, Ahmed El-Wakeel, President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, stated:

> “Supporting startups is a top priority for the Federation. These companies are not just small economic entities — they are engines of growth that can accelerate digital transformation and boost Egypt’s competitiveness both regionally and globally. Our vision is to position Egypt as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation, enabling local startups to scale globally and contribute to sustainable development.”

Eng. Khalil Hassan Khalil, Chairman of the Digital Economy Division, added:

> “Participation in Web Summit 2025 is a strategic step toward reinforcing Egypt’s place on the global innovation map. The event is more than a showcase — it is a golden opportunity to secure partnerships, attract investments, and keep pace with global advancements in technology and digital entrepreneurship. We are committed to empowering Egyptian startups with the resources and support they need to compete internationally.”

Web Summit, widely regarded as one of the world’s largest technology and entrepreneurship events, attracts tens of thousands of attendees each year, including founders, investors, and executives from leading global companies. Egypt’s Digital Economy Division has been organizing the “Egyptian Pavilion” at the summit, in collaboration with ITIDA, since 2019.
