Orange Egypt CEO Hisham Mahran Named Among Forbes Middle East’s Top Sustainability Leaders 2025

Forbes Middle East has named Hisham Mahran, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Orange Egypt, to its “Middle East Sustainability Leaders 2025” list, recognizing top executives across the region who are driving meaningful change toward a more sustainable future.

Mahran’s inclusion underscores Orange Egypt’s position as a leading force in the telecommunications sector and a pioneer in embedding sustainability into its business strategy and operations.

Under his leadership, Orange Egypt has transformed into not only a provider of advanced telecommunications and digital services but also a regional benchmark for sustainable business practices. In 2024, the company achieved a 12% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, cutting total emissions to 111 kilotons, while raising its reliance on renewable energy to 44%. Orange Egypt also expanded its network of solar-powered sites under the G2G project and continued operating Egypt’s first fully solar-powered retail branch in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Further advancing its circular economy initiatives, Orange Egypt launched a nationwide electronic waste management program, promoted device recycling, reused 20% of its network equipment, and replaced single-use plastic bags with biodegradable alternatives across all retail branches. The company also introduced E-SIM and Eco-SIM cards made from recycled plastic, expanding its portfolio of eco-friendly solutions.

Mahran’s recognition by Forbes reflects growing regional and international confidence in Orange Egypt’s forward-looking sustainability agenda. It also reinforces the company’s role as a key contributor to Egypt’s green transformation and as a sustainability champion across the wider Middle East.
