Samsung Digital Appliances Achieves First TÜV Nord IoT Security Certification

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced that its Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam, Bespoke Jet Bot Combo, and Bespoke AI Refrigerators have received IoT security certification from TÜV Nord, a global certification body based in Germany.

This marks the first time Samsung’s digital appliances have earned TÜV Nord certification, highlighting the company’s leadership in both home appliance innovation and data protection.

“As the global focus on smart home security intensifies, Samsung continues to deliver robust protection through our Knox security platform,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “This certification validates the strength of our security technologies, and we will continue to enhance differentiated protection to safeguard customer data.”

Meeting Europe’s IoT Security Standards

The certification is based on the ETSI EN 303 645 standard, developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The standard defines essential security and privacy requirements throughout the lifecycle of consumer IoT devices — from design and development to operation and updates. Key criteria include:

Data encryption

Authentication and access control

Secure software updates

Personal data protection

Vulnerability management

The achievement comes at a critical time as Europe strengthens its IoT regulations with updates to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and the forthcoming Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). TÜV Nord’s recognition reinforces Samsung’s readiness to meet these evolving global standards.

Advanced Knox Security Features

Samsung has equipped its appliances with multiple layers of Knox security technologies, including:

Verification of unauthorized firmware modifications at startup

Encryption of monitoring video footage and user commands, ensuring data is only decrypted at its intended destination

Knox Matrix, enabling mutual security checks between devices to alert users of potential data theft risks

Knox Vault, securing sensitive personal information, such as passwords, within a dedicated hardware subsystem

New Products on the Horizon

The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam will debut at IFA 2025 in September, while the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo and Bespoke AI Refrigerators are already rolling out in select global markets.
