The National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) has concluded the third phase of the national qualifiers for the Afro-Asian Forum for Innovation and Technology (AAFFIAT). It was held at NTI’s premises in Knowledge City, New Administrative Capital, under the patronage of the ICT Minister.

The competition was organized in cooperation with Techno Space and sponsored by Telecom Egypt. It aimed to select the teams that will represent Egypt in the world finals scheduled to take place in Malaysia in October 2025.

Phase III brought together 516 young participants from across the country, forming 75 teams. They competed across 11 technology and innovation tracks, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, animation, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and documentary filmmaking, among others.

At the conclusion of the event, the winning teams were officially announced and honoured.

Earlier this year, NTI hosted the first and second phases of the AAFFIAT national qualifiers over a seven-month period. A total of 1,473 participants representing 278 teams competed across 22 technology and innovation challenges.

Hosting the national competition reflects NTI’s commitment to empowering youth with digital tools, fostering innovation, and equipping the next generation with the skills needed to contribute to Egypt’s digital transformation. Through specialized training and hands-on challenges, the initiative aims to cultivate creativity, practical problem-solving, and teamwork.

It is worth noting that Egypt hosted the first AAFFIAT global competition in Luxor in 2019. Since then, the forum has evolved into a regional platform supporting the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s vision of investing in youth and integrating emerging technologies into education to advance digital transformation and sustainable development.
