Ericsson demonstrated its cutting-edge 5G innovations and reinforced its commitment to shaping next-generation networks at the Egypt 5G Forum, held in Cairo and organized by Moharram & Partners. The high-level event brought together top executives from Egypt’s telecom sector, key government officials, and international stakeholders to foster collaboration in advancing the country’s digital transformation.

Held in collaboration with the embassies of Finland, Japan, Sweden, and the United States in Cairo, as well as the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt, the forum aimed to align a wide spectrum of ICT stakeholders under a unified vision for regional connectivity and innovation.

Ericsson played a central role in the forum’s thought leadership, contributing to five focused panel discussions that tackled critical themes surrounding 5G deployment, regulatory frameworks, and emerging technology trends.

Driving Policy and Innovation

Robert Condon, Head of Government & Policy Advocacy for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Ericsson, addressed the regulatory landscape, emphasizing the economic opportunities 5G can unlock. He called for a policy environment conducive to investment, trusted network development, and inclusive growth.

Said Zantout, Head of Core Networks and Network Management at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, explored how AI-driven solutions and open APIs are enabling 5G networks to address a wide range of industrial use cases—from smart manufacturing to connected transportation.

Meanwhile, Zoran Lazarević, Chief Technology Officer at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, highlighted Ericsson’s future-ready architectures, enabling service providers to evolve toward programmable, open networks that can scale to meet Egypt’s digital ambitions.

A Platform for Partnership

Kevin Murphy, Vice President and Head of Customer Unit North Middle East & Africa at Ericsson, commented:

“At Ericsson, we are dedicated to advancing digital transformation and connectivity across the region through building future-ready networks. The Egypt 5G Forum provided us with a unique platform to engage in meaningful dialogues around key industry topics. This collaborative event not only enabled us to showcase our innovative technologies but also served as an important first step toward deeper cooperation with international partners on 5G and cybersecurity initiatives.”

The forum marks a significant milestone in fostering multilateral partnerships and accelerating the deployment of 5G in Egypt—a critical component in the nation’s broader digital transformation roadmap.
