Sunday 11 May 2025 22:40

Egypt, represented by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), has launched the National Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) Strategy during the IPv6 Enhanced and Future Network Summit.

The event was hosted by NTRA in cooperation with the IPv6 Forum, the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO), and the IPv6 Arab Enhanced Council. It brought together officials from regional and international organizations, technology experts, and representatives of telecom service providers.

The strategy sets out to fully prepare public and private infrastructure for IPv6 support within the next three years and aims for over 80% national adoption by 2030. It also targets full IPv6 readiness among internet service providers by 2026.

This move is expected to contribute to Egypt’s digital transformation efforts by enabling new technologies such as 5G applications, IoT services, smart homes, and wearable devices, while also improving the overall telecom user experience.
