LEAP 2026 Day Two Unveils $2.5 Billion in Digital Infrastructure Investments
The second day of LEAP 2026 in Riyadh saw the announcement of investments and major technology initiatives worth nearly $2.5 billion, spanning data centers, cloud services, technology localization and research and development, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s drive to establish itself as a global hub for digital infrastructure and advanced technologies.
$1.2 Billion Investment in Saudi Data Centers
Al Moammar Information Systems (MIS) led the day’s investment announcements with a $1.2 billion plan to expand its data center operations in Saudi Arabia and increase its operational capacity to a total of 192 megawatts.
The expansion is aimed at supporting growing demand for computing and artificial intelligence services as the Kingdom continues to build out its digital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, NHC Innovation announced plans to develop data centers in Khuzam Digital Valley with an investment of $880 million. The project will provide integrated and scalable digital infrastructure, with capacity targeted to reach 65 megawatts by 2033.
Saudi Investment Extends to Africa
Saudi investment activity also extended beyond the domestic market, with Vision Invest and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) leading a $300 million strategic investment in WIOCC.
The investment is intended to support the expansion of digital infrastructure across Africa and strengthen connectivity and digital communications services in markets across the continent.
BytePlus Cloud Services Launch in Saudi Arabia
In cloud computing, Mobily and BytePlus announced a joint investment of more than $150 million to launch BytePlus cloud services in Saudi Arabia.
The initiative is expected to expand access to advanced cloud-based solutions for companies and businesses operating in the Kingdom.
HPE Expands Technology Localization
HPE announced an expansion of its Made in Saudi program, moving beyond hardware localization toward the localization of integrated technology solutions.
The company also announced the launch of the Saudi Innovation Center in cooperation with Intel, with the initiative focused on supporting startups and national talent in artificial intelligence.
Nokia Opens First Saudi R&D Center
In telecommunications, Nokia announced the opening of its first research and development center in Saudi Arabia.
The center will focus on accelerating the development of AI-powered network automation technologies while strengthening research, innovation and the development of advanced communications solutions.
The announcements highlight the growing appeal of Saudi Arabia as a destination for local and international technology investment. They also reflect the expansion of the Kingdom’s digital ecosystem across data centers, cloud computing, research and development, and technology localization, alongside the growing reach of Saudi investments into global markets.
LEAP 2026 will continue through September 3 at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham, bringing together technology leaders, investors, innovators and startups from around the world to showcase developments in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital infrastructure and advanced technologies.
