MCIT, Ministry of Education Conclude ‘Digi-Safe’ in Alexandria, Port Said with 288 Beneficiaries
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, implemented the Digi-Safe program in Alexandria and Port Said on August 17–27, as part of the Digital Citizenship and Online Safety initiative.
The program benefited 288 participants, including 170 students and 118 teachers, through a series of participatory training and awareness-raising activities designed to strengthen participants' ability to address digital challenges, enhance prevention and protection skills, and translate online safety concepts into practical measures within schools.
Training addressed a range of topics, including recent developments in the digital environment, the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), the risks of sharing personal data with AI tools, and protection against online risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content, grooming, and digital blackmail. Sessions also covered gaming and application use, screen time, privacy and data protection, password security, multi-factor authentication, and reporting and help-seeking mechanisms.
The program focused on fostering a school environment that supports digital safety by integrating the roles of teachers, schools, and families, drawing on interactive training methods including the analysis of real-life digital situations, discussion of case-based scenarios, teamwork, and training on appropriate response and intervention mechanisms.
Particular emphasis was placed on empowering students to serve as "digital citizenship ambassadors," encouraging them to share knowledge with their peers and participate in awareness-raising activities within their schools. This approach aims to transform students from recipients into active contributors to building a safe digital environment within schools, strengthening their capacity to make informed and responsible digital decisions and to support their peers in addressing challenges and risks encountered online.
Digi-Safe continues through September 3 across additional governorates, concluding in Cairo, following stops in Giza, Alexandria, and Port Said.
The program builds on activities carried out in 2025 to raise awareness of digital citizenship and safety skills in public schools across Cairo, Alexandria, and Port Said, benefiting more than 1,000 teachers, welfare specialists, and students.
