NTI Concludes Phase III of AAFFIAT National Qualifiers

The National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) held the third phase of the national qualifiers for the Afro-Asian Forum for Innovation and Technology (AAFFIAT) on August 7 at its premises in Knowledge City, New Capital. The phase marked the final stage in selecting the teams that will represent Egypt at the global finals.

Competitions spanned a wide range of technology fields, including motion graphics, robotics, smart applications, digital games, cybersecurity, healthcare innovation, software development, and mobile applications.

In total, 188 participants across 56 teams, ranging in age from 5 to 22, took part. The lineup included students from various educational stages alongside university students, all vying to present innovative solutions and projects across multiple disciplines.

A panel of experts, academics, and technology and innovation specialists assessed the participating projects and ideas against technical and innovation criteria, selecting the top teams and projects to represent Egypt at AAFFIAT's global finals.

The qualifiers form part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's (MCIT) broader push to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, empower youth, and invest in young talent through specialized programs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software, and technological innovation. These efforts are geared toward building a generation equipped to shape the future of the digital economy.

By hosting the national qualifiers, NTI underscores its role in supporting the innovation ecosystem, building young people's technological capabilities, and fostering a culture of research, development, and entrepreneurship. This aligns with the government's vision of a knowledge- and innovation-driven digital economy, while giving youth a wider platform to showcase their talents and compete on regional and international stages.

AAFFIAT is a leading international platform bringing together innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs from across Africa and Asia. It fosters the exchange of expertise and knowledge, spotlights innovative projects and ideas, and strengthens regional cooperation in technology and innovation.

The AAFFIAT 2026 global finals will take place in Aswan Governorate on October 25–27, a further sign of Egypt's growing role as a regional hub for innovation and technology, and a destination of choice for young talent and promising tech ventures.
