iSchool Partners with Federation of Egyptian Industries to Equip At-Risk Children with Digital and AI Skills in Al Asmarat
iSchool has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) to launch a specialized educational program focused on digital and technological skills. The initiative is specifically designed to protect and empower children at risk of being drawn into child labor within the Al Asmarat neighborhood.
The agreement was formalized during an event celebrating the launch of a new code of conduct regulating the training and employment of children, which coincided with the graduation ceremony for participants in a local vocational training program.
International Collaboration: The ETEL Egypt Project
This strategic partnership operates under the umbrella of the "ETEL Egypt" project, which is implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and supported by the Cairo office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
Under the MoU, iSchool will roll out a targeted curriculum in Al Asmarat with the following core objectives:
Skill Development: Training at-risk children in artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technology.
Future Readiness: Equipping youth with the capabilities required to navigate and succeed in the future digital economy.
Alternative Pathways: Providing viable, future-proof educational and training alternatives that enhance their prospects for a better professional career.
Social Protection: Bolstering broader efforts in social protection and economic empowerment for highly vulnerable demographic groups.
Education as a Shield Against Child Labor
In a statement detailing its vision, iSchool emphasized that combating child labor extends far beyond merely enforcing laws and regulatory frameworks regarding employment. It fundamentally requires expanding access to technology, education, and skill development to create genuine socio-economic alternatives for vulnerable children and their families.
The company highlighted that the collaboration with the FEI, ILO, and AICS underscores the critical need for integration between the private sector, international organizations, and government stakeholders. Together, these entities can deliver training programs that actively build youth capacity and maximize their ability to benefit from the ongoing digital transformation.
