Network International Expands Acceptance of UAE”s ”Jaywan” Cards to E-Commerce Platforms

Network International, a leading enabler of digital commerce across the Middle East and Africa (MEA), has officially expanded the acceptance network for "Jaywan"—the United Arab Emirates' domestic payment card scheme—to include online payments. This strategic enhancement allows cardholders to utilize their Jaywan cards seamlessly across Network's extensive roster of e-commerce merchants.

Launched by Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), the Jaywan scheme aligns directly with the nation's digital transformation strategy. It is inherently designed to foster innovation, drive digitalization, ensure global interoperability, and solidify the UAE's position as a premier global hub for secure digital payments.

Seamless Integration and Cost Efficiency

Network International has successfully integrated Jaywan card acceptance into its advanced electronic payment gateway, facilitating secure, rapid, and effortless online transactions.

Broad Accessibility: Customers can now confidently use their Jaywan cards at thousands of online merchants affiliated with Network International across the UAE.

Merchant Benefits: To incentivize adoption and support businesses, merchants will not incur any additional operational fees for processing Jaywan transactions through the gateway.

Leadership Perspectives

"Expanding the acceptance of Jaywan cards to include online payments is the natural next step in our ongoing collaboration with Al Etihad Payments. It reflects the trust placed in Network to actively support the UAE's digital payment infrastructure. Following the rollout of in-person Jaywan payments across our merchant network, we are now delivering the same level of security and interoperability for e-commerce transactions, offering cardholders a unified and seamless payment experience wherever they choose to pay. Our core mission at Network is to help businesses grow, and this milestone firmly cements the digital pillars the UAE is establishing to transition into a fully cashless economy."

— Pinar Albay, Group Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Network International.

"The growth of the Jaywan ecosystem relies on the broad participation of various stakeholders within the payments sector. Every card issuer, acquirer, and payment service provider that activates the system helps expand the channels and locations where customers can use their cards—whether in-store, online, or via digital wallets. Network's support for online card acceptance represents a significant stride toward widening Jaywan's reach and embedding it into more everyday payment experiences across the UAE."

— Andrea Cianchetti, Chief Product Officer at Al Etihad Payments.

Strategic Goals of the Jaywan Scheme

Network International was among the first financial entities to activate Jaywan for point-of-sale (POS) transactions in the UAE. By extending this capability to the digital realm, Network continues to actively champion the UAE's broader agenda of financial inclusion. The Jaywan initiative aims to empower both businesses and consumers by providing an advanced payment solution tailored to the local market.
