The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued its annual bulletin on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, detailing the statistics for "Envoys and Returnees from Scientific Missions Abroad for the Year 2025." The data highlights a robust increase in the state's investment in academic and scientific research abroad.

Total Envoys and Top Universities

The report revealed a significant 64.5% increase in the number of academic delegates dispatched internationally, reaching a total of 612 envoys in 2025, up from 372 envoys in 2024.

Over the broader period from 2022 to 2025, the total number of scholars sent on scientific missions reached 1,342. Ain Shams University led national institutions in the number of dispatched delegates during this timeframe:

Ain Shams University: 105 envoys

Cairo University: 74 envoys

Alexandria University: 63 envoys

Assiut University: 44 envoys

Benha University: 28 envoys

Other Universities and Scientific Institutions: 1,028 envoys
