Axis Communications Strengthens Egypt Focus Through Smart Surveillance, Partnerships and Local Engineering Talent
Axis Communications is reinforcing its presence in Egypt through advanced smart surveillance solutions, local technical expertise and a partner-led business model, while ruling out local manufacturing plans in the Egyptian market for the time being.
The company’s current strategy focuses on expanding the use of intelligent security technologies across key sectors, including smart cities, critical infrastructure, data centers, commercial facilities and digitally enabled buildings. Its approach combines video surveillance, access control, intercom systems, network audio and analytics-based solutions designed to support the growing demand for secure, connected and data-driven environments.
No local manufacturing plans for now
Anas El-Zoghby, Engineering Consultancy Manager at Axis Communications, said the company does not currently plan to establish a factory or manufacture its products locally in Egypt.
He explained that the decision is linked to Axis Communications’ global strategy, as well as several operational and procedural considerations that make local manufacturing outside the company’s existing global framework not part of its current plans.
However, El-Zoghby stressed that the absence of local manufacturing does not mean limited commitment to the Egyptian market. Instead, Axis is focusing on strengthening its local presence through technology deployment, engineering support, knowledge transfer and closer cooperation with local partners.
Egyptian talent at the center of support operations
Axis Communications provides technical support and engineering consultancy services in Egypt through qualified Egyptian professionals, according to El-Zoghby.
He said the company relies on local engineering talent to respond quickly to customer requirements and deliver services aligned with international standards.
This reliance on Egyptian expertise reflects the company’s confidence in local capabilities and forms part of its broader strategy to build skills, transfer knowledge and support digital transformation across the market.
Global leadership backed by innovation
Axis Communications, founded in Lund, Sweden, in 1984, has grown into one of the world’s leading players in video surveillance and intelligent security solutions.
The company became part of Canon Group in 2015 and today operates across more than 50 countries, with more than 5,000 employees, 69 offices worldwide, 39 experience and innovation centers, and eight logistics and configuration centers.
In 2025, Axis recorded revenues of around $2.1 billion, reflecting sustained global demand for its security and surveillance technologies.
Expanding beyond cameras
While Axis is widely known for video surveillance, the company’s portfolio has expanded significantly in recent years.
Its solutions now include network cameras, access control systems, intercoms, network audio, video analytics, Internet of Things-based technologies and integrated security platforms.
This broader portfolio positions the company to serve sectors that need more than traditional monitoring, especially as organizations increasingly seek smart, automated and cyber-secure security infrastructure.
Partner ecosystem drives market access
Axis Communications continues to depend on a strong ecosystem of distributors, system integrators, application developers and technology partners.
This partner-led model allows the company to reach customers across different markets while offering tailored solutions that match the technical and operational needs of each sector.
According to El-Zoghby, the model is central to Axis’ ability to deliver integrated solutions efficiently and maintain close engagement with customers and project stakeholders.
Smart cities and data centers fuel demand
The company sees strong growth opportunities in Egypt and the wider region as smart cities, data centers and digitally managed facilities accelerate demand for intelligent surveillance and cyber-secure infrastructure.
The expansion of large-scale urban development, critical infrastructure projects and digital transformation programs is creating new requirements for security systems that can do more than record video.
Modern surveillance platforms are increasingly expected to analyze scenes, detect risks, support operational decisions and integrate with broader building-management and cybersecurity systems.
Cybersecurity and sustainability remain core priorities
Axis Communications says it is committed to high standards of quality and cybersecurity. The company has obtained ISO/IEC 27001 certification and has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact since 2007.
These commitments support Axis’ positioning as a technology provider focused not only on security performance, but also on responsible business practices, sustainability and long-term trust in connected security systems.
Egypt as a strategic market for smart security
Although local manufacturing is not currently on the table, Axis’ strategy in Egypt appears to be centered on market development, engineering support and the deployment of advanced solutions through local and regional partnerships.
The company’s emphasis on Egyptian technical talent, combined with its global innovation network and partner ecosystem, suggests that Egypt will remain an important market for smart surveillance and digital infrastructure solutions.
As demand grows for secure cities, resilient data centers and intelligent buildings, Axis Communications is positioning itself to play a larger role in Egypt’s evolving technology and security landscape.
