Egypt’s Virtual Workspace Hits 159 Million Daily Hours; Zoom and Teams Lead the Remote Revolution
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has reported a significant milestone in Egypt’s digital transformation, with remote meeting services reaching 159.5 million hours daily. This 7% year-on-year increase is driven by 6.5 million active users who rely on platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom for professional and educational collaboration. The data underscores a permanent shift toward hybrid work models and the decentralization of the Egyptian workspace.
Industry experts suggest that this massive volume of virtual interaction is a direct result of Egypt’s robust 5G rollout and the expansion of high-speed fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. By facilitating millions of hours of high-definition video conferencing, the telecom sector is enabling businesses to reduce operational costs and enhance productivity. The NTRA’s findings confirm that the "Virtual Office" has become a vital component of Egypt’s economic resilience, allowing for seamless continuity in global and domestic trade.
