Egypt to Slash Customs Clearance to Under 24 Hours; GOEIC Announces Full Digital Integration and Paperless Exports

The General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) has unveiled a transformative digital package aimed at streamlining Egypt’s foreign trade. Speaking at a workshop organized by the Egyptian-Lebanese Businessmen Association (ELBA), GOEIC Chairman Eng. Essam Al-Najjar announced the final transition to a paperless system and full electronic integration with the "Nafeza" single-window platform. These measures are designed to reduce customs release times to less than 24 hours for compliant companies, significantly boosting Egypt’s export competitiveness.

Key reforms include the complete abolition of the "Statistical Export Model," with a new digital export cycle set to launch at Ain Sokhna Port on May 1, 2026. Al-Najjar revealed a massive surge in the "White List" system, with the number of participating companies growing by 177% and factories by 223% in 2025. This risk-based management approach allows for document-only clearance for low-risk shipments, operating seven days a week to ensure a seamless flow of international trade.
