Amazon Leo Enters Enterprise Beta as Satellite Constellation Reaches Key Milestone
The race for global space-based connectivity has reached a critical turning point as Amazon Leo officially launched its Enterprise Beta program on April 8, 2026. This phase allows select telecommunications and government partners to test the network’s high-speed, low-latency capabilities before its public rollout scheduled for mid-2026. Following its rebrand from Project Kuiper in late 2025, Amazon has rapidly expanded its orbital presence, recently surpassing 240 operational satellites after successful launches with partners like United Launch Alliance (ULA) and Arianespace.

While SpaceX’s Starlink maintains a massive lead with over 10,000 satellites, Amazon is focusing on high-margin contracts and specialized applications, such as in-flight Wi-Fi for Delta Air Lines starting in 2028. To bridge the deployment gap, Amazon has applied for a two-year extension from the FCC, citing its commitment to closing the "digital divide" in underserved regions, particularly in rural Africa. The move signals Amazon’s transition from a connectivity experiment to a cornerstone of the global digital infrastructure.
