IMF Raises Egypt’s Growth Forecast for FY 2025/26 and FY 2026/27

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded its growth projections for the Egyptian economy in its latest update of the World Economic Outlook.

According to the IMF, Egypt’s GDP is expected to grow by 4.7% in the current fiscal year 2025/2026, ending in June 2026, and continue rising to 5.4% in FY 2026/2027.

The report noted that these revised projections are higher than previous estimates released in October 2025, reflecting an upward adjustment of 0.2 percentage points for FY 2026 and 0.7 percentage points for FY 2027.

The IMF report highlighted that the Egyptian economy grew by 2.4% in FY 2023/2024 and 4.4% in FY 2024/2025, based on available estimates.

In addition, the report noted that Egypt achieved its fastest growth in three and a half years during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, recording a 5.3% expansion, supported by improved Suez Canal revenues, a recovery in tourism, and growth in the manufacturing sector.
