Ares Management Invests $370 Million in Major Data Center Project in Ireland
US-based alternative investment firm Ares Management has injected approximately $370 million to support a flagship data center project within the Kildare Innovation Campus in Ireland’s County Kildare, in a move aimed at accelerating one of the region’s largest digital infrastructure developments.
The financing was structured as a development loan for the first phase of the project, which is being built on the former Hewlett-Packard site spanning nearly 184 acres. The development forms part of a multi-phase commercial and technology campus.
The Kildare Innovation Campus hosts a range of global companies operating in technology, medical devices, engineering, and advanced manufacturing, further strengthening its position as a hub for high-value investment.
Ares Management’s investment is widely seen as a significant boost for Ireland’s data center sector, which has faced regulatory and infrastructure challenges in recent years, at a time when global demand for cloud computing, data storage, and artificial intelligence infrastructure continues to rise sharply.
The funding reflects strong confidence among US investors in the Irish market’s capacity to accommodate large-scale technology projects, supported by its strategic geographic location, proximity to European markets, and availability of highly skilled technical talent.
Once completed, the project is expected to generate new employment opportunities during both construction and operational phases, stimulate local economic growth, and reinforce County Kildare’s role as a regional digital infrastructure hub, amid intensifying competition among European countries to attract major data center investments.
