DeepSeek Launches Local Chatbot in Italy with Anti-Hallucination Measures
Chinese AI company DeepSeek has received approval to launch the first localized version of its chatbot for users in Italy. The rollout includes a series of technical and regulatory measures to address the so-called “hallucination” problem in AI models, in compliance with Italian regulatory requirements.
The decision follows months of negotiations with the Italian Competition Authority, which had previously opened an investigation over concerns about unclear warnings to users regarding the potential for chatbots to generate inaccurate or misleading information.
The authority confirmed that the investigation was closed after DeepSeek committed to providing clearer, easier-to-understand disclosures about AI hallucination risks, delivered directly and promptly to users.
