Cairo – Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, visited the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbassia this morning to extend his heartfelt Christmas greetings to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly expressed his sincere congratulations to Pope Tawadros II and all Egyptian Christians at home and abroad, praying for blessings, prosperity, and well-being for all. He praised the Church’s national and social role under the Pope’s leadership in promoting citizenship and fostering brotherhood among all Egyptians, noting that occasions like Christmas provide an important opportunity to demonstrate love and unity among the nation’s citizens.

Madbouly said, “I always make it a point to be with Your Holiness on this day. Your Holiness knows my deep respect and appreciation for your esteemed personality, a true national figure. We pray for your continued health, guidance, and success. Merry Christmas to all Egyptian Christians.”

In response, Pope Tawadros II thanked the Prime Minister for his visit, highlighting the deep fraternal ties that unite all Egyptians and reflecting the spirit of love and solidarity in the country. The Pope commended the state’s ongoing efforts under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, particularly in the health and education sectors, calling them foundational to human development.

He noted that while Egypt faces challenges like any other nation, the government, led by Prime Minister Madbouly, keeps citizens informed of developments across all sectors, which fosters public trust and confidence. He also referred to a previous visit to the Prime Minister in New Alamein City, accompanied by Egyptian youth from abroad, who were impressed by the city’s development, describing it as “Egypt’s San Francisco.”

Prime Minister Madbouly concluded the meeting by emphasizing the government’s commitment to progress, stability, and public reassurance, wishing for continued peace, security, and prosperity across Egypt. The meeting ended with mutual expressions of appreciation and goodwill.
