Sprints Joins Alexandria Alliance to Advance Egypt’s Smart and Sustainable Mobility Future

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the selection of the Alexandria Alliance for Smart & Sustainable Mobility as one of the winning alliances under the Presidential Initiative «Taḥāluf wa Tanmiya». The alliance was chosen from among more than 100 applicants and stands as the sole representative of the Alexandria region, reinforcing its strategic role in supporting Egypt’s Vision 2030, particularly in advancing green economy growth and accelerating the adoption of clean technologies.

The Alexandria Alliance aims to localize electric vehicle (EV) technologies in Egypt by establishing a fully integrated innovation ecosystem for smart and sustainable mobility. Through this collaborative framework, the alliance seeks to empower entrepreneurs and startups operating in the mobility sector, while also training and qualifying engineers and specialists to meet the evolving demands of local, regional, and global markets.

The initiative marks a strategic step toward opening new industrial pathways for youth, strengthening Egypt’s economic competitiveness, and supporting the development of a resilient and sustainable transportation sector aligned with global environmental standards.

Commenting on the announcement, Bassam Sharkawy, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Sprints, said:

“Being selected among hundreds of alliances is both an achievement and a responsibility. While discussions often focus on technology and electric vehicles, true progress begins with people. Through this alliance, Sprints is preparing a new generation to contribute to smart mobility across design, development, operations, and sustainability.”

Ayman Bazaraa, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Sprints, added:

“This alliance represents a concrete step toward building a sustainable smart mobility ecosystem in Egypt. By integrating academia, government, and industry, we are creating real pathways for youth to acquire future-ready skills and enabling innovation in electric and intelligent transport systems to move from concept to market.”

The Alexandria Alliance brings together a broad network of partners across Egypt’s innovation ecosystem. These include Alexandria University as the academic partner, EiTESAL as a civil society partner and general coordinator, alongside leading technology and industrial companies such as Brightskies, Geyushi Automotive, CourseVox, Sprints, and EVRAID.

The selection of the Alexandria Alliance highlights the impact of cross-sector collaboration between academia, industry, and civil society. It reflects a shared national vision to enhance Egypt’s global competitiveness, accelerate the transition toward low-emission mobility solutions, and shape a sustainable future for smart transportation.
