Arab Bank Partners with Magdi Yacoub Foundation to Support New Intensive Care Unit

Arab Bank has announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Magdi Yacoub Foundation for Heart Diseases and Research to support the establishment of a new adult intensive care unit at the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in Cairo, one of the region’s most advanced medical facilities specializing in cardiovascular care.

This partnership comes as part of Arab Bank’s ongoing community initiatives aimed at supporting vital sectors, particularly healthcare, through contributing to infrastructure development and enhancing the quality of medical services provided to all segments of society.

Under the agreement, Arab Bank has provided the necessary funding for the construction and full equipment of the new intensive care unit. The unit is designed to boost the center’s capacity and offer free, high quality postoperative care to cardiac patients. It will incorporate state of the art life support technologies, advanced hemodynamic monitoring systems, and ventilators to ensure precise clinical care that helps reduce mortality rates and improve patient outcomes.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ahmed Ismail Hassan, Area Manager and Head of Branches at Arab Bank Egypt, emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting impactful community based programs in line with its responsibility to society. He underscored that such initiatives play a significant role in strengthening the healthcare sector and improving the quality of medical services available to citizens, while directly supporting efforts that make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable groups.

Ms. Dina El Gazzar, Vice President for Development and Fundraising at the Magdi Yacoub Foundation for Heart Diseases and Research, expressed her appreciation for the collaboration. She reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to expanding partnerships across sectors in recognition of the importance of supporting healthcare services and enhancing the new center’s capacity to provide high quality, free treatment to a larger number of heart patients. She added that the cooperation with Arab Bank exemplifies meaningful integration aimed at creating direct and measurable impact in patients’ lives in accordance with the highest international standards.

It is worth noting that the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation is a non governmental charitable organization founded in 2008 by Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub. The Foundation provides high quality, free cardiac care to underprivileged patients, with a particular focus on children and the most vulnerable groups.
