Silicon Waha Launches Third Edition of “Waha Connect” at Borg El Arab Technology Park, Empowering Egypt’s Next Generation of Innovators

Silicon Waha has officially launched the third edition of “Waha Connect: Shaping the ICT Horizon” at the Borg El Arab Technology Park, bringing together top leaders, entrepreneurs, experts, and students from across Egypt’s ICT ecosystem. The annual event underscores Silicon Waha’s mission to nurture young talent and position Egypt’s governorates as vibrant hubs for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.

This year’s Waha Connect spotlights inspiring success stories from homegrown startups while hosting distinguished speakers from both the public and private sectors. The event features interactive discussions, networking sessions, and collaboration opportunities designed to spark partnerships and attract new investments into Egypt’s fast-growing technology landscape.

As a testament to its strategic impact, Intelcia, a global leader in outsourcing services, joins this year as strategic sponsor, reaffirming its commitment to creating direct employment opportunities for youth in Alexandria and beyond. Intelcia has set up a dedicated recruitment booth at the venue to engage young professionals seeking career opportunities in customer experience and digital operations.

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) also participates as community partner, integrating the closing ceremony of the “Future Mobility & Sustainable Transportation Hackathon.” The competition, which promotes smart and eco-friendly transport solutions, offers a total of EGP 60,000 in cash prizes for three winning teams.

During his opening remarks, Mr. Hashem Mansi, CEO of Silicon Waha, stated:

> “The third edition of Waha Connect marks another milestone in our mission to expand the culture of digital innovation beyond the capital. This platform bridges creative ideas with real growth opportunities, enabling Borg El Arab Technology Park to emerge as a launchpad for a thriving business ecosystem that fuels Egypt’s digital economy and attracts sustainable investment.”

From his side, Mr. Ahmed Youssef, General Manager of Intelcia Egypt, said:

> “Our strategic partnership with Waha Connect reflects Intelcia’s belief in investing in Egypt’s youth. We’re not only supporting this initiative but also opening doors for employment and professional growth in Alexandria — building a workplace culture rooted in innovation, inclusivity, and operational excellence.”

The event’s speaker lineup featured:

Ahmed Youssef, who presented “Reimagining the Customer Experience: Intelcia’s Journey in Egypt’s Contact Center Industry.”

Eng. Hossam Abdelkader, Head of the Central Department for Entrepreneurship at GAFI, who discussed the “Fekretak Sherketak” programs that have supported over 150,000 entrepreneurs nationwide.

Ahmed Abdallah, COO of Egypt Post for Investment and Board Member at Silicon Waha, who delivered “From Ideas to Impact: Entrepreneurs’ Journey Toward Thriving SMEs in Egypt,” emphasizing how innovation can be transformed into sustainable business value.

Among the standout hackathon startups were:

Mohamed Nasser, Founder & CEO of Prengo, which offers STEM learning tools and curricula for children to learn engineering and coding basics.

Reem Yasser, leader of the Smart Ambulance Project, which enables real-time transmission of patient data and video updates to hospitals before arrival. The project secured EGP 600,000 in funding through its participation in the “GEN-Z” program.

The winning team, “Etigah”, led by Eng. Osama Khaled, earned recognition for developing an intelligent navigation solution that seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor mapping. Initially targeting malls and hospitals, the system enhances accessibility and inclusion for all users — a standout innovation in the realm of smart city applications.

With over 250 attendees, including 50 ICT industry leaders and 200 university students, Waha Connect 2025 has reaffirmed its reputation as a national platform shaping Egypt’s digital future and driving innovation-driven growth across the governorates.
