Ericsson Named a Leader in Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for CSP 5G RAN Infrastructure Solutions 2025

Ericsson has once again secured its position as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for CSP 5G RAN Infrastructure Solutions, marking the fifth consecutive year the company has been recognized in this category. Notably, Ericsson achieved the highest placement for “Ability to Execute,” reinforcing its commitment to delivering advanced 5G network solutions.

Released on September 10, 2025, the Gartner report provides an independent market overview of 5G radio access network (RAN) infrastructure, evaluating vendors on two key dimensions: Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute.

Per Narvinger, Executive Vice President and Head of Networks at Ericsson, commented:

“Being recognized as a Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for five consecutive years is, for us, a reflection of our ongoing efforts to support customers as their needs evolve. We believe this continued recognition isn’t just about pushing the boundaries of technology, it’s about helping service providers build the networks of the future.”

Globally, nearly half of all mobile 5G traffic outside China runs on Ericsson-powered networks. The company also enables modernization of legacy 4G sites to 5G, delivering up to 10 times more capacity with as much as 30% energy savings. Currently, Ericsson supports 187 live 5G networks across 78 countries, including more than 40 standalone 5G deployments.

The recognition by Gartner adds to Ericsson’s consistent industry leadership. In 2025, the company was also named a leader in Frost & Sullivan’s Frost Radar: 5G Network Infrastructure report for the fifth year in a row, and it secured the top ranking in Omdia’s Market Landscape RAN Vendors 2025 report.

Ericsson’s 5G portfolio spans the Ericsson Radio System, Cloud RAN, 5G Transport, and a wide range of professional services. Its hardware portfolio includes compact, energy-efficient Massive MIMO and multiband radios powered by Ericsson’s custom silicon, designed with Open RAN readiness in mind. Earlier this year, Ericsson expanded its offerings with RAN Connect—radios, antennas, and open fronthaul solutions that enable CSPs to build high-performing, programmable networks.

On the software front, Ericsson continues to advance with intent-based automation and AI-powered solutions. Its 5G Advanced suite features innovations such as Automated Energy Saver and AI-native Link Adaptation, improving both network performance and efficiency.

Sustainability also remains a key focus. Ericsson achieved its 2025 portfolio sustainability targets six months ahead of schedule, cutting energy consumption at new radio base stations by 40% compared to 2021 levels, and reducing supply chain emissions by lowering product weight by 45% compared to 2020 benchmarks.
