Gold prices in Egypt remained broadly stable on Saturday, reflecting limited global momentum and a gradual decline in the U.S. dollar exchange rate against the Egyptian pound — factors that have capped gains for the precious metal in local markets.

As of midday trading, retail gold prices in local jewelry shops were as follows:

24-karat gold: EGP 5,314 per gram

21-karat gold (the most traded): EGP 4,650 per gram

18-karat gold: EGP 3,986 per gram

Gold sovereign (gineh): EGP 37,200

Market analysts suggest that the EGP 4,630 level for 21-karat gold is emerging as a new support base, with a potential breakout towards the EGP 4,700 mark, depending on upcoming movements in global spot prices.

On the international front, gold prices have slipped below $3,350 per ounce, amid weak momentum and neutral technical indicators. Investors are cautiously awaiting fresh signals from U.S. monetary and trade policy developments.

Locally, the gold market remains confined within a narrow price range due to a lack of strong short-term catalysts, aside from any unexpected shifts in the dollar’s exchange rate.
